About Patti

Hi, I’m Patti

I learned the basics of crochet when I was about eight years old. My mom taught me how to chain, single crochet, and double crochet, and my very first project was a dishcloth. I loved making anything square or rectangular and experimenting with different yarns to see how each one changed the finished project.

A few years later, my aunt taught me how to read crochet patterns using an heirloom baby booties pattern. That opened up a whole new world of possibilities and helped me develop a lifelong love of crochet.

Over the years, crocheting became more than just a hobby. I’ve always found it relaxing and therapeutic. In fact, for much of my adult life, I’ve kept a blanket in progress on a hook simply because I enjoy the rhythm and comfort of working on it. As we likje to say in our home, “yarn is cheaper than therapy!”

In the fall of 2011, I was searching for the perfect pair of slippers. My feet were always cold, but I don’t enjoy wearing socks around the house and I couldn’t find a slipper style that felt quite right. I thought back to those little baby booties I had learned to make decades earlier and decided to try designing my own slipper pattern.

What started as a simple project quickly became a passion. I worked to create slippers that fit comfortably, stayed warm, and felt great to wear. My very first design featured a crochet flower, inspired by my favorite flower, the daisy. From there, I continued improving the sole for added warmth, comfort, and durability.

Before long, my young daughter wanted a matching pair of her own. Soon, family and friends began requesting slippers too. I enjoyed creating them so much that I opened my Etsy shop and began offering styles for women and children.

Over the years, Patti’s Projects has continued to grow an devolve. Today, I offer slippers is sizes for the entire family, from babies to adults. Many of my designs begin as ideas I’d love to try myself, while others are inspired by customer requests. One of my favorite parts of the creative process is the challenge of turning a unique idea into a pattern that fits beautifully and can be enjoyed for years to come.

Thank you for visiting Patti’s Projects. I’m honored to share my handmade creations with you and hope you find something that brings a little extra warmth and comfort to your home.
